Optial Smart Start for Operational Risk and Compliance

Enhanced User Interface for greatly improved navigation and user interaction

Optial Significantly Enhances User Interface and Experience September, 23 2011

London, England – Optial, the leading developer and provider of operational risk software solutions,
announced today that it has significantly enhanced its SmartStart solution for Operational Risk
Management with the roll out of a comprehensive new User Interface for greatly improved navigation
    and user interaction.

At a time when, once again, events in the market have demonstrated the paramount importance of
implementing an effective governance framework Optial ensures that for their clients such risk controls are considered ‘business as usual’ across the workforce.

Chris O’Brien, co-founder and CEO of Optial, stated, “We continue to work closely with our clients
to ensure that their requirements are what drive the growth and development of the already robust Optial solution. From the feedback we have received our attentions have focused on four broad areas:

    • Navigation around the solution has been greatly enhanced enabling users to perform essential tasks with simple ‘single click’ access to areas relevant to their role or function within the organisation.

    • Data access is now improved to ensure that there is, at all times, clear and meaningful visibility into all required and associated data items.  This is essential when complex workflow structures demand constant reference to data items located across multiple areas of the business.

    • Information to assist the user is now much more clear and concise.  Confirmation messages are provided throughout all stages of the workflow cycle to keep the user fully informed of successfully completed actions and any required error corrections.

    • Process flow is now assisted by the addition of precise instructions or ‘sign posts’ guiding the user through the required steps and actions they must perform to advance the workflow process.  To further assist, clear information is given explaining mandatory functions the user must fulfil.”

Senior management are under unprecedented pressure to demonstrate the ability to measure and to fully understand risk exposures at all points of their business.  The Optial framework ensures that risk controls are adhered to and the results can be tracked, measured, audited, and reported on for use both by management and the regulators.  As our clients will attest, this is achieved without adding time consuming tasks to already busy schedules.
