Optial Smart Start for Operational Risk and Compliance

Data Analytics

Once data has successfully been captured as described in the previous sections, the risk manager’s principal interest is how to view and analyse it in such a way that trends, status and emerging systemic issues become immediately apparent. Typically, a risk analyst will be asked to produce commented overview reports to senior management, so they must be able to analyse the collected information in an ad-hoc way and produce high quality graphics with a smooth look and feel. At the same time, line managers will need one-click access to standardised reports so that they can quickly see at any time how operational risk is affecting their business.

This section explores how analytics can be used to answer key management questions such as how loss event trends compare across geographies and businesses, or where the ‘top 5’ risks across the firm are to be found. It subsequently highlights additional online reporting capabilities which are included throughout all the individual modules.

OBI Cube Browser

The OBI cube browser allows an analyst to browse an OLAP cube via standard slice and dice style navigation. The analyst can manipulate the cube by choosing which dimensions and measures to display, along with the capability to slice and filter the data either by specific dimension fields, or by other criteria such as “Top/Bottom x”.

OBI has been developed and integrated into the core Optial platform to provide more advanced analytics. OBI provides reporting options that include the ability for users to browse OLAP cubes with a slice & dice style browser, allowing the formulation of grids and charts with the option to save and share reports.
