Optial Smart Start for Operational Risk and Compliance

Optial Business Intelligence

Optial Business Intelligence (OBI) provides the ability to utilise OLAP technology for users to access the OpRisk and associated external data through a slice and dice style browser, enabling the formation of grids and charts with the options to save and share reports. In addition fixed graphical, management style reports can be directly embedded into the Optial system for one click access.

Optial Business Intelligence (OBI) provides:

  • Inclusion of Reporting Services Reports for high quality, one-click access to sophisticated layouts including dual axis reports, combined chart/grids and drilldown to individual line items, from the online transaction database
  • Ability to print, export, produce as PDF and other formats
  • Automatic regular generation of integrated business intelligence cube based on configured modules
  • Interactive analytics for managers to produce ad hoc charts and grids based on dimensions and measures
  • Advanced interactive analytics for analysts to access the full cube for detailed analysis
  • My Reports: Ability to create own reports from the interactive analytics, save for future use and share with others
  • Use of Dundas graphing capabilities for rich, professional graphics; ability to define house colours for reports
  • Subtle multiple historical data management and reporting
  • Trending & forecasting
  • Multilanguage access
  • Ability to consume data from non Optial sources, and display in an integrated fashion alongside ‘native’ Optial data

OBI has been fully integrated into the Optial system to provide 3 key benefits over the use of external business intelligence solutions:

  1. Access Control of data in OBI is tightly controlled using the powerful Optial security model to provide secure end user reporting for data which is often highly sensitive as present in the rest of the application
  2. Full drill-down capability is supported allowing the user to go from the high-level reporting view created from the cube, through to the actual data items in the core system
  3. Any change ot the data model in Optial is automatically reflected through to the OLAP cube, eliminating the need to rebuild the cube to reflect these changes.

Reporting Services Reports:

These reports are fixed, management information graphical reports that are typically developed by Optial and are available within the Optial system at the click of a button. These reports are typically created where dual axis charts or calculations on the data is required to create the desired output information and format. Standard reports include (but are not limited to):

  • Management Dashboard
  • Loss Event Trend
  • Loss Event Recoveries Trend
  • Loss Event Trend Forecast
  • Categorised Loss distribution
  • Risk Map (bubble)
  • Risk Map (heatmap)
  • Risk Radar
  • Risk Evolution
  • Action Due Date Calendar
  • Audit Findings Due Date Calendar
  • Audit Committee Report
  • KRI Staffing Trends
  • KPI Trending
  • Loss Distribution
  • Capital Allocation..

Clients also have the ability to create their own Reporting Services which would then be enabled in the Optial system.

OBI Browsers:

It is also possible for you to create your own Reporting Services reports (assuming you had the skilled resources for this) which we would configure into the Optial system for you. However, the OBI Browsers provide a powerful mechanism for you to generate your own reports – more details provided below.

There are two browsers provided within Optial:

  1. Simple Browser: this provides a mechanism for users with business level knowledge of the data to generate their own reports. The data available in the cube for reporting is presented using labels that the business user will recognise.
  2. Advanced Browser: this browser is designed for those users who have a more detailed knowledge of the database and are familiar with pivot tables in Excel. This browser will enable users to do more filtered and advanced data analysis.

In all cases, reports that are user generated within the browsers can be saved for future use and also shared with other users within the organisation for consistent reporting.
