The Optial architecture has been designed to transparently scale from small workgroup to large global installations. Web farms and clustered database solutions can be deployed to support large global corporate installations and provide resiliency with failover for critical systems.
Optial can be deployed in a number of configurations depending on specific customer requirements. The application can be deployed internally on customer hosted managed servers or is available on an OpRisk on Demand basis or as a longer term Software as a service (SaaS) basis. When used as a OpRisk on Demand or software as a service, only browser software is required at the client for access.
The user interface is delivered to web browsers using web standards compliant XHTML, CSS and JavaScript. AJAX technologies are used on modern browsers to improve the application usability and customer experience whilst simultaneously reducing the bandwidth used by the application on the hosting network.
Optial's recommended browser is IE 7.0+ (IE6 is still supported) or Firefox 2.0+ with the most recent platform security patches applied, with no additional client software required or deployed. The following information is only required when Optial is installed at a client site.
Optial is a distributed component based system running on Microsoft platforms (Windows Server 2003/2008) using Microsoft SQL Server 2008, 2005 or 2000 as its database. The application is a fully managed application written using .NET 3.5 (2.0 CLR), C# and ASP.NET.
